11/29/2023 0 Comments Break up with your girlfriend karaokeThough his employees Dick and Barry (Jack Black in the role that would launch his film career in earnest) try to offer Rob well meaning but almost certainly awful advice, nothing really takes and Rob goes through the seven stages of grief (comedically) though late plot twists bring about the opportunity for redemption. Owner of the store and head clerk Rob (Cusack) has just suffered a breakup from his longterm girlfriend and come to the conclusion he just understands nothing about women. In the early 2000’s it was this endearing yet layered rom-com (directed by polyglot and talented British filmmaker Stephen Frears who had collaborated with Cusack on the underrated noir The Grifters) about record store clerks. Cusack has carved out a now five decades (!!) habit of dropping at least one to two very funny, very quirky romantic comedies amongst his varied body of work. Tonight, we are excited to finally announce the return of our CINEMA KAROAKE nights where we watch an amazing music themed movie on 35mm then break out the karaoke speakers and mic, sing, dance, party.įirst up is the 2000 John Cusack classic High Fidelity based on the Nick Hornby novel. Your ticket gets you into both the movie and the karaoke afterwards. This is also to celebrate the marriage of Secret Movie Clubbers Kim and Josh who will be in attendance with some of their friends. SPECIAL NOTE: Tonight we’ll be screening the John Cusack classic High Fidelity and following it with an open mic karaoke night and party.
